If you have lived in Denver more than a day you have probably discovered people here love to get down on good music almost any day of the week. I discovered Sub.Mission‘s Electronic Tuesdays on my 19th birthday the very 1st year I moved here. I will never forget the night I stepped into Cervantes Other Side for the very 1st time September 20, 2011. The heavy hitting bass music surged through my body waking me up and inspiring me to rapidly re-think my preconceived ideas about Tuesday nights being “boring”.
Six years later, later E-Tuesdays is still going strong each week bringing some of the best in underground bass music to Denver and helping upcoming producers get noticed through weekly DJ battles at brand new club The Black Box. What was once a shrine to the Grateful Dead with jarring bathroom graffiti, is now an acoustically perfect cocoon of electronic sensory bliss. The Black Box was recently voted by Westword magazine readers 2016’s “Best New Club” and that is just one of the several awards they have earned in the short time since the makeover and re-opening of the club. I am impressed by how fast this venue has seemed to turn the corner on both appearance and attendance and by the looks of it Nicole Cacciavillano the H.B.I.C of Sub.Mission and The Black Box doesn’t look to be stopping the venue’s improvements anytime soon.
