Dear Creative Community,
SLOWLY (Hawaiʻi time) resurfacing…
Four days. There was something about four days that I couldn’t quite put my finger on.
After three extraordinary days at Wildoria Music Festival, I found myself needing more time than expected to process everything I’d experienced.
I checked in with Lakota Chief Phillip, who shared some perspective on integration after ceremony: “Integrating after ceremony — a minimum of four days. At least four months after significant loss or profound grief.”
Suddenly, it made sense. Three days of festival. Four or more days of integration.
What I thought would be another wild adventure in festival production became one of the strangest, most synchronistic, and emotionally profound experiences I’ve had in years.
Between another trip around the sun, airplanes, old friends, unexpected losses, new beginnings, and approximately 27 production emergencies nobody noticed while they were partying (with a purpose) in a field, I’m pretty sure September contained several lifetimes.
Somehow, we’re already halfway through OCTOBER?! About That Missing October 1st Newsletter…If you noticed your inbox was suspiciously quiet earlier this month, allow me to explain.
I had just returned from directing an entire wellness sanctuary at a three-day festival, navigating approximately 27 unexpected plot twists, and operating on what I can only describe as my very last surviving brain cell. Asking me to write a coherent newsletter at that point would have been like asking an iPhone 15 with 1% battery to shoot and edit a feature-length HD documentary.
We’re lucky I remembered how to operate a toothbrush...The irony? I’d just spent the weekend directing The Springs, a wellness sanctuary dedicated to rest, relaxation, and nervous system regulation. Apparently, I needed to book myself an appointment...So as soon as I could, I closed the laptop, got some much-needed rest, and gave myself permission to integrate. Integration feels like an ongoing process.
These gatherings are so much more than music. They’re reunions, ceremonies, communities, and opportunities to reconnect with ourselves and each other.
Rather than attempt to squeeze several lifetimes of experiences into one newsletter, I’ve shared an extended Wildoria post with a few THANK-YOUS over on Facebook.👉 READ THE FULL WILDORIA RECAP
🎃 A Little Halloween Surprise! Since I slept on our Oct 1, I’ll be making it up to you with a SPECIAL HALLOWEEN EDITION during the last week of October! 👻✨
Expect a little spooky season magic, creative inspiration, and perhaps a few unexpected surprises... Speaking of shifting timelines…
Starting in November, this newsletter is officially moving to a NEW schedule!
We’ll still connect twice a month, but instead of Thursdays, you’ll now hear from me on the 1st and 3rd WEDNESDAYS of every month.
Our first two editions on the new timeline will arrive November 4 & November 18!
Consider today’s newsletter our final regularly scheduled Thursday transmission before we shift into a new timeline. As I continue integrating everything September brought, I’m reminded that some experiences take much longer to process than they do to live.
Sometimes we need to slow down, sometimes we need to change direction, and sometimes we just need to trust the unfolding.
Here’s to honoring the past, embracing the present, and making space for whatever magic comes next. 🦋 Happy integrating... whatever that means for you this season.
