ARTIST OF THE WEEK: David Artavia

3/8/17

Happy Hump Day! I am back in action after a blissful 2-week computer screen free trip to the beautiful jungles of Costa Rica and could not be more stoked to share with you all my fave art, photos, and magic moments from the trip. This week’s ARTIST OF THE WEEK is David Artavia whom I discovered while traveling in Costa Rica. David Artavia’s work was displayed outside a surf shop I passed walking the streets of surfer capital – Jacó. I was immediately intrigued when I saw his gorgeous surreal/visionary style and was inspired by these images as well as many of the other colorful and original Costa Rican creations on display. Below are the two paintings that were on display with descriptions included from David’s website. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do! #PuraVida #CostaRica #DavidArtavia #Jacó

“When I was a kid I looked at the sea, skys, and landscapes and imagined–as if by magic–God was doing a big painting for everyone to see. He would be changing the colors and shapes with a huge artist brush. So one day I finally got the inspiration to create and put together my vision and ideas on a canvas. I will always be inspired by the Gran Maestro and His wonderful creation.” – David Artavia

Happy Wednesday! I hope you have been keepin’ it ELEGANT. Super excited to announce this weeks ARTISTS OF THE WEEK! I was intrigued the moment I saw the stunning LuLu Swallow artwork for French producer CloZee‘s new EP. What sounds could possibly flow to this stellar graphic? After listening to the entire EP about 20 times in the last 2 days I do believe I am now certified to say the sound does not disappoint. Yes, it is true the elemental grace of this harmonious blend of tropical electronic jungle beats is ELEGANT. The album artwork by LuLu Swallow and sounds by Chloé CloZee compliment each other with a unique blend of colorfully organic electronic grace and elegance. ARTIST OF THE WEEK *HOLIDAY EDITION*: Lexis Krieg + The Sol Shine yoga studio and gallery in DENVER, CO!

I had the pleasure of meeting this week’s #ARTISTofTHEWEEK in person at an amazing local Denver yoga studio and boutique – The Sol Shine! The oh so colorful Lexis Krieg and I enjoyed meeting as if by magic at The Sol Shine holiday party on Dec 10th. It was a delightful evening of music, fashion, and local art. After meeting the creative force and boss lady of The Sol Shine – Dannie Huggs, a few weeks before at the ARISE holiday soirée, I was inspired to make it a top priority to check The Sol Shine studio!

Stepping into the store I was immediately overcome by the wonderful smell of incense, a sensory bliss mix between herbal bath products, palo santo, nag champa, and LOVE. The size of the space and variety of products from around the world in the gallery really impressed me. I allowed my intuitive shopper skills to guide me to what really felt like it was mine. I ended up with a beautiful Lovestitch scarf that reads, “BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER” and a greet mala bracelet with opalite made by hand locally.

Meeting this week’s artist in person was awesome. I selected her for the feature because I immediately loved her colorful Colorado style. Her work is so affordable she makes it possible to buy her originals. You can see her collection in person now at The Sol Shine or check her out online via the links below.

Wishing each of a fabulous holiday season! I encourage you to support the growing local Colorado artist community by giving the gift of amazing art this season.

Cheers & Happy Holidays !-Brielle Bataille – ❤

This week in a goddess card reading I selected the Pachamama card so finding this wonderful new work titled “Pachamama Cycles” by Brazilian Visionary artist Hyper Norai felt serendipitous. Ism Art Gallery

Happy Monday THISPICISSICK fans!

Today I’m excited to be sharing about an art gallery owned by a great local Denver painter by the name of Craig Thomas. Ism art gallery is located just a few doors down from the Bluebird at 3229 E. Colfax Avenue. Because of both its’ excellent location and delectable contents it’s quickly become one of my favorite gallery’s in Denver!  This Thursday the 20th I will be celebrating my 20th Birthday so last Saturday I splurged on  my 2nd piece of art by Craig Thomas. When I asked him about the piece he said he had started it early in early January of this year and had worked on it over 4 to 5 days.  I love the painting because of the many vivid colors and details it incorporates. In many ways it’s warm and cool color mixture reminds me of changing colors that occur in nature during each of  the seasons of the year. Like most of Craig’s colorful paintings, it is definitely a piece of artwork to get lost in. And with only 3.5 months left in the year it already feels like a  good representation of the year 2012 to me.
